Everton Player Slated After Merseyside Derby Embarrassment

Everton Player Slated After Merseyside Derby Embarrassment

Another terrible night for Roberto Martinez's men

Roberto Martinez will be hoping that his Everton players have found the bottle and the fight that they were so sorely lacking during tonight's Merseyside derby in time for Saturday's FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United, otherwise the Spaniard will very likely find himself out of a job by Monday morning.

And one of Martinez's players in particular came in for a tremendous amount of criticism during Everton's capitulation against Liverpool at Anfield, tonight; One time Chelsea and Barcelona target John Stones.

In Stones' defence he has been abysmally managed by Martinez, who benched the young centre half after a poor display against Manchester City in the League Cup in January, no doubt damaging his confidence which was probably well on it's way to being shot playing in a defence containing an ageing Phil Jagielka and almost retired Tim Howard in goal.

Stones limped off injured after 62 minutes and the tweets about his performance were particularly brutal but could have been saved for almost any of Everton's players, tonight.
