England fans have called for Gareth Southgate to include James Ward-Prowse in his squad for Euro 2020, after the midfielder's performance against Romania.

Southgate has a choice to make for the 26th man in his squad, after Trent Alexander-Arnold was ruled out with an injury during last week's friendly vs Austria.

The England boss has until next Saturday to make his decision, 24 hours before the Three Lions first game of the tournament against Croatia.

On Sunday night, England hosted Romania in another friendly and Ward-Prowse's excellent performance led to compliments from all corners and left England fans calling for the Southampton midfielder's inclusion in the squad.

With the Manchester City and Chelsea players still missing, having been given a week off after the Champions League final, Ward-Prowse, Ben Godfrey and Ben White all got starts, despite being cut from the 33 man provisional squad.

The Saints midfielder definitely impressed most out of the trio, before being subbed off in the second half for Declan Rice.

England scored the only goal of the game through Marcus Rashford's penalty. Jack Grealish was fouled before the captain for the night slotted home on 68 minutes.

Jordan Henderson, playing for the first time since February, had the chance to double England's lead, with a penalty of his own, but the Liverpool midfielder had his attempt saved.
