England Were Playing Some Of The Best Football In Years And Fans Were Loving It

Harry Kane gave England the perfect start to their World Cup campaign after Argentina, Spain, Germany and Brazil tripped up.

Could it actually be coming home?! For 35 minutes it looked like it might be, at least before England managed to give a penalty away.

My how we hope and wish when every World Cup comes around and how we will eventually end up disappointed but often all that hope has disappeared within the first 45 minutes of our tournament.

England in 2018 feel different to pretty much every side since 2000. There is very little over inflated hope and more a feeling of wanting to enjoy a young team playing good football and just seeing how far they can go.

Of course faith and belief has gone through the roof in the last few days as favourites like Germany, Argentina, Spain and Brazil have all slipped up and the first 45 minutes of their own opening game has pleased fans of the Three Lions no end.

After a lot of early pressure and a few chances England broke the deadlock on 11 minutes. Ashley Young's perfect header was met by John Stones only for the Tunisia keeper to somehow keep his header out but Harry Kane was on hand to slot home and make it 1-0 to leave fans delirious:

But of course when it comes to England the optimism doesn't last very long when it comes to the team whose 'Golden Generation' couldn't get further than a couple of quarter finals.

After 35 minutes Kyle Walker gave away a penalty and Tunisia were level from the spot kick.

England should have had a penalty of their own on 38 minutes when Harry Kane seemed to be hauled down in the area from an England free kick.

It never lasts long.
