As you're likely aware by now, Harry Maguire is set to join Manchester United for £85 million concluding one of the summers longest transfer sagas.

However, United fans are preparing for their new defender by celebrating his exploits for Leicester City last season, specifically one performance against Liverpool.

Back in January of last season, Liverpool sat atop the Premier League by four points following a festive period which saw Manchester City fall to defeat against Crystal Palace, Leicester and Newcastle.

The Red's went into the game against the Foxes confidently and took the lead through Sadio Mane.

Despite this, Maguire stepped up to coolly slot past Alisson and earn his side a 1-1 draw halting Liverpool's momentum and dropping two points.

Jurgen Klopp's men then went on a run of three draws in five games, allowing City to regain ground in the title race and inevitably win it on the final day by one point.

United fans are obviously loving this, with 'Slabhead' already receiving adulation before his transfer is officially completed.

Maguire has been on Manchester United's radar for a long time with former United boss Jose Mourinho being an admirer of the 26-year-old.

United legend Wayne Rooney has also discussed the former Hull City man joining Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side.

Speaking to ESPN FC per Goal, the DC United front man explained;

"He's gotten better, and he's been a main player for Leicester City, but also for England. I think he'd be a good signing if they can get him."

If the defender can net against Liverpool next season, then United fans will undoubtedly love him even more.
