Manchester United put on an amateur display of defending against Sevilla who knocked them out of the UEFA Europa League by the score of 2-1. Individual mistakes from United's defending cost them the game.

After losing 2-1 to Sevilla, United will go trophyless for another season, and in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first full-season as manager.
However, the performance can be completely put onto United's doorstep after failing to convert some easy chances, while the defenders had a night to forget.
With Anthony Martial constantly missing the back of the net, Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were only helping Sevilla find their goal.

One moment includes Harry Maguire expecting Williams to cover Sevilla's right-winger, Suso, but the Manchester-born defender wasn't there, leading to Sevilla's equaliser on the night.
However, the moment went viral due to Maguire not looking when telling Williams to cover the cross.
Although it is Harry Maguire who has been one of the best defenders in the world this season, so therefore he receives a lot more scrutiny for commanding his full-back to cover the far-post cross while he blocks off a striker running central.

A peculiar meme has now spread of Maguire's "no-look defending", albeit the good majority of centre backs in the world do this on a daily basis.
Maguire has played the most minutes in world football this season and finished in the top five in the Premier League for most aerial duels won, interceptions, touches, and ball-carrying as per FBRef.
However, due to him currently being the most expensive defender in the world, as well as a Manchester United player, his incredible season is easily overlooked by many casual fans.
