Manchester United Player Slammed For Poor Performance Against Barcelona

Manchester United and Barcelona played out an intriguing first leg of their Champions League quarter final on Wednesday night and it was one United player who was the centre of the attention after an awful performance.

Manchester United beating PSG in the second round of the Champions League was one thing but coming up with a surprise result against Barcelona was going to take another level of performance and shock.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side found themselves 1-0 down after just 12 minutes thanks to an unfortunate Luke Shaw own goal after Luis Suarez headed the ball against the left back.

Though Barca dominated possession in the opening 20 or so minutes it was actually United who put together the more impressive display for much of the game from that point.

The likes of Scott McTominay, Fred and Diogo Dalot were particularly impressive and Chris Smalling even managed to put Lionel Messi in a heap on the ground.

However despite all the positivity in Old Trafford the Red Devils still lost 1-0 and Ashley Young certainly wasn't on the end of any of the good vibes as he had another poor performance:

The former winger turned full back recently signed a new deal at Old Trafford, to keep him at the club beyond the summer, but he's come under a lot of criticism recently.

Against Wolves in the league he was sent off with the game poised at 1-1 and the Midlands team going on to win the game 2-1.

In Europe he managed to stay on the pitch but, despite wearing the captain's armband, he was unable to have a positive impact on the game and gave the ball away far too much.

Is his time up at United?
