The latest Premier League managerial sacking took place earlier this afternoon as Leicester City relieved Craig Shakespeare of his duties, with Gary Lineker responding to the news on social media.

The Foxes have axed Shakespeare just four months after he signed a three-year deal to take the job on a permanent gig.

He was the clubs interim-manager following the sacking of Claudio Ranieri in February, but eventually took over the Italian on a full-time basis, guiding Leicester to a 12th place finish last season.

Though he's failed to impress the Leicester board this season following their miserable start to the new league campaign.

Leicester drew 1-1 at home to West Bromwich Albion on Monday with the club sitting precariously in a relegation spot.

From the opening eight games, Leicester have only picked up all three points just the once, and have not won a league match in their last six meetings.

His poor form has resulted in the loss of his job, with Leicester's favourite son taking to Twitter to sum up his passionate feelings, while wanting Ranieri back at the helm.

His first Tweet reads: "Craig Shakespeare sacked by Leicester. Bring back Claudio."

Not to mention aiming a dig at the regime: "Was always a miracle, but it's even more remarkable really that Leicester won the league given the ineptitude of those that run the club."

While Shakespeare failed to produce this season, his overall statistics make for impressive reading.

Leicester are back in action this weekend when they face Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.

Meanwhile, many names are already being heavily linked with the hot-seat - from Carlo Ancelotti, Roberto Mancini to David Moyes and Alan Pardew.

Who'll get the job?
