Jose Mourinho was spotted by the cameras at Wembley looking very impressed after two of his Manchester United charges teamed up to give England the lead against Spain in the Nations League.

Welcome to the new era of England football. The World Cup has gone and now we live in a weird world where we don't know if everything has changed for the better or if our amazing summer in Russia was just a one off.

Things have kicked off in the Nations League, UEFA's new competition to get rid of most meaningless friendlies, with Gareth Southgate's side playing Spain in their opener.

The Three Lions even kicked things off nicely with taking a 1-0 lead in the first half as Luke Shaw, back in the national team after a long absence, set up Marcus Rashford for the opener.

That was a nice moment for Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager was sat in the stands and the camera went straight to him after Rashford got on the scoresheet.

It's interesting that it was Shaw and Rashford that combined for the goal as those are two players who have had a rocky time under Mourinho at Old Trafford.

Shaw has very much turned things around this season and it seems that he is now the number one choice at left back when previously he couldn't even get in the 23 man match day squad on a regular basis last season.

Rashford hasn't had too many chances as a central striker in the time that the former Real Madrid boss has been in charge but has still had chances in the first team.

England's lead didn't last too long with Saul and Rodrigo scoring to make it 2-1.
