Fans have called on England to be banned from the next World Cup, after the behaviour of the fans at the Euro 2020 final.

Sunday night should have been a celebration, win or lose, England had made it to the final of a major tournament for the first time in 55 years and it was at home at Wembley.

However, despite some moments of cheer, it was mainly a bad experience for many because of the anti social behaviour of many of the fans both inside and outside of the ground.

According to reports, and video evidence, some stormed security to force their way into Wembley without tickets, stewards were threatened at knife point and a woman was subject to 'serious sexual assault.'

Outside the ground bottles and other 'missiles' were thrown in Leicester Square and later there were reports of Italian fans being assaulted.

Whilst many have said it could be the end of England's hopes of hosting the World Cup in 2030, it has also been suggested that the team should be banned from the tournament in Qatar in 18 months.

Others called just for the fans to be banned from going to Qatar in 18 months time, for the first ever winter World Cup.

Older fans will recognise the scenes on Sunday night as the kind of thing that followed the national team in the 90s and early 00s as fans regularly engaged in awful behaviour at the tournaments.

It will be awful for an England team that have come so far and done so much good were to miss out on a tournament because of a bunch of idiots.

On the other hand, those idiots don't deserve to enjoy getting to a tournament if they can ruin such an amazing day as Sunday and racially abuse their own players in the aftermath.
