Tim Krul saved Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang's first effort after playing mind games but the penalty had to be retaken due to encroachment.

Fans on Twitter were quick to point out instances were penalties didn't have to be retaken due to encroachment or keepers being off their line, showing the flaws in the technology.

One specific game highlighted is when Norwich welcomed Manchester United to Carrow Road.

Krul saved two penalties from Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford but Krul was off his line for both.

Max Aarons was also encroaching during one of the spot-kicks.

VAR's first three months in the Premier League have been filled with inconsistencies especially when it comes to handball and penalty decisions.

The decision to retake the penalty this afternoon allowed Aubameyang a second chance and he scored to make it 1-1.

But 'The Canaries' managed to retake the lead just before half time with Todd Cantwell finding the bottom right corner.
