Peter Schmeichel was the guest in the Monday Night Football studio last night for Leicester City's visit of West Brom and he's been outed by fans on Twitter for his failure to criticise his son Kasper.

The Foxes No.1 was beaten by a sublime long-range free-kick from Nacer Chadli in the 63rd minute, before Riyad Mahrez ensured the hosts claimed a point after his 80th minute strike.

Despite the perfect effort from former Spurs man Chadi, which was a rare moment of quality in the game, some fans questioned the positioning of Schmeichel, who was rooted to the spot.

However, Schmeichel Sr, widely viewed as the Premier League's greatest ever goalkeeper, refused to criticise Schmeichel Jr and instead praised the individual brilliance from Chadli.

Speaking directly to his son after the game on Sky Sports, the Manchester United legend said:

"Don't get too down about it because I think the quality of the strike is such that it's hardly possible to save it.

"[Chadli] aims it about two yards outside of the post and hits it there, and I don't know if it's the wind or the break of the ball that takes it back in.

"Sometimes you've just got to hold your hands up and say you've been beaten by a quality free-kick.

"You can argue about whether you want a wall or not, but Kasper had a good point that you then give him the opportunity to have a different shot at goal, and then you wonder whether that was the right decision."

But some fans on Twitter reckon Schmeichel tried too hard to defend his son, and promptly let their thoughts be known:

Was Peter right to let Kasper off the hook?
