I remember the moment it happened. A pre Euros friendly against Turkey at the Etihad and there was Harry Kane on free kicks and corners. Fans are hoping the Spurs star having the armband doesn't mean a return of that day.
The problem wasn't that Kane was on dead ball situations on that day, it was merely a warm up game after all, but it continued into the Euros and whilst it wasn't the Three Lions' only failing in France it was one that contributed to the downfall.
I'd text my Spurs supporting friend to ask what was going on and find out if Kane had taken corners for Mauricio Pochettino's side and I'd just missed it, it wasn't the case and it's no wonder considering his goal scoring penchant.

Since then Gareth Southgate has decided that other people should be taking corners and has also righted other wrongs of the Euros like not picking Joe Hart.
Kane today was given the armband for the World Cup but it's led to lots of England fans to worry he'll use his new power for evil not good. He'll do well to remember with great power comes great responsibility:
Hopefully Kane and Southgate will have more sense than Roy did and avoid putting Kane on every set piece and let people who are more equipped stand over the ball.

England vs Turkey will live long in the memory, hopefully England can do something to help me get over it.
