Carabao Cup Third Round Draw Falls Into Farce

Carabao Cup Third Round Draw Falls Into Farce

The League Cup's new sponsors haven't got any draws right so far and the latest sham isn't any better.

The League Cup has had more sponsors than some people have had sexual partners and when it moves on from Carabao you get the feeling the cup won't be talking about this ex again. The latest news is more farce!

Football League Cup, Milk Cup, Littlewoods Challenge Cup, Rumbelows Cup, Coca-Cola Cup, Worthington Cup, Carling Cup, Capital One Cup, EFL Cup and now Carabao Cup, whatever you call it the League Cup is only the second most important cup competition is England.

Sure in the last 15 years it's only been won by three teams not inside today's 'top six', when Middlesbrough, Birmingham City and Swansea City got their hands on it, but it still has most teams resting their biggest players especially in the early rounds.

Swansea vs Bradford certainly wasn't the Wembley final anyone was expecting in 2013. Image: PA

This season the competition somehow feels even more irrelevant with a sponsor no one had ever heard of until the announcement. East Asian Red Bull wannabe Carabao.

The draw for the first round confused everyone as there was no sound on the live broadcast and Charlton were named twice. The draw for round two didn't get much better with confusion over home and away teams but the draw for the third round is set to take place at 4.15 am UK time!!

It's all so the tv audiences in the Far East can watch at a broadcastable hour but that's hardly good for the fans of the clubs, especially for those teams being added in the third round who are involved in European competitions.

Fans clearly aren't enamoured by the idea:

Anyone staying up for it?!
