Real Madrid Star Eden Hazard believes that the 2019 Ballon D'Or winner should be a Liverpool player, naming Mohamed Salah, Virgil Van Dijk, and Sadio Mane as three of the contenders for the prize.

Former Chelsea player Hazard wants a Liverpool player to win the 2019 Ballon D'Or. With Liverpool going on to win the Champions League in 2019 and currently being unbeaten at the start of this season, Hazard claims a player from Liverpool needs to win it.

The favourites for the Ballon D'Or come out as the two regulars; Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, the trio of Mane, Salah, and Van Dijk are also in the running for the trophy, albeit not winning a domestic trophy.

Liverpool famously went on to lose against Manchester City and becoming the Premier League's best-ever losers with a record 97 points without winning the League.

Hazard though believes that the Liverpool players did enough to garner a stake for the Ballon D'Or. Le Parisien asked Hazard who he thought should win the Ballon D'Or:

"I would give it to a Liverpool player. Mané, Salah or Van Djik deserve it. If Sadio had won AFCON with Senegal, there would have been no debate. It would be beautiful if he won it. Or Momo (Salah), who is one of my friends."

Salah and Hazard once played together for Chelsea and the Belgian wants his former teammate to win the Ballon D'Or this year.

Van Dijk is the Bookmakers' favourite to win the 2019 Ballon D'Or with Messi coming second. Surprisingly, Manchester City's best player last year, Bernardo Silva isn't even in the top 10.

Robert Lewandowski, Europe's top scorer in 2019 with 47 goals is projected to miss out of the top five.
