Chelsea eventually agreed terms with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Diego Costa, and he's left a message for both Antonio Conte and the fans.

After months and months of intense speculation, the Spanish international is set to return to Atletico. The clubs have agreed a believed £50 million fee subject to personal terms and a medical.

While the likes of AC Milan and Everton were reportedly linked with his services, Costa will rejoin the La Liga outfit once the January transfer window re-opens.

Despite starring for Conte last season in the Premier League, the Italian gaffer ruthlessly binned the striker after outlining his plans over the summer.

The 28-year-old bagged 20 goals as Chelsea regained the Premier League title. Though he was deemed surplus to requirements by Conte who sent the following message:

"Hi Diego, I hope you are well. Thanks for the season we spent together. Good luck for the next year but you are not in my plan," per BBC.

The summer window also saw the English champions draft in fellow Spaniard Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.

Morata has started impressively scoring three goals in the league. Costa will be hoping to get in the goals, too, especially with the World Cup next summer.

Even though there's been a somewhat unsatisfactory ending to his Chelsea career, Costa harbours no grudge towards Conte while maintaining his love for the Chelsea faithfuls.

"There's nothing of the sort there, I'm not upset with anybody, I have no bitterness towards anyone. Everything is cool," he told Splash News via Sky Sports.

"Everybody knows how much I love the fans," Costa added.

Costa enjoyed two seasons with Atletico before swapping Madrid for London in 2014. He weighed in with 36 goals in all competitions during the 2013/14 campaign, which included a Champions League final appearance.
