Following The Netherlands' 2-0 defeat to Bulgaria on Saturday, the Dutch FA took the decision to relieve head coach Danny Blind of his duties.

Blind succeeded Guus Hiddink in 2015 but failed to qualify for the European Champions in France, last summer.

The 55-year-old's two-year spell as national team head coach now comes to an end, and leaves them in a precarious position in their World Cup qualifying group.

1. France - PTS: 13

2. Sweden - PTS: 10

3. Bulgaria - PTS: 9

4. Netherlands - PTS: 7

5. Belarus - PTS: 2

6. Luxembourg - PTS: 1

Manchester United's Daley Blind posted the following message to his father after his sacking. He posted a picture of the pair accompanied with the words:

"Working together as father and son at top level was a dream that came true. You never walked away from your responsibilities and you never gave up. I'm proud of you."
