Philippe Coutinho's Return To Anfield Was Met With A Mixed Reaction
Philippe Coutinho returned to Anfield for the first time since leaving Liverpool for Barcelona in January as Brazil warmed up for the World Cup with a game against Croatia and he received a mixed reaction.
If Liverpool fans and players were gutted that they didn't win the Champions League final then Philippe Coutinho might have been even more gutted, he'd have won a medal for barely doing anything. That might be a bit of a lie but come on.
The Barcelona midfielder looked likely to depart Anfield last summer when it was obvious that Barcelona wanted to sign him and that he wanted to go.
Somehow Jurgen Klopp managed to hold on to him till January but then he moved over to La Liga.
On Sunday he returned to Merseyside for the first time as Brazil continued their preparation for the World Cup against Croatia and why wouldn't it be at Anfield.
The former Inter Milan player was met with a mixed reception of boos and cheers by the mainly neutral crowd:
Coutinho off. Booed. Man Utd impeding signing on. pic.twitter.com/65a3J4Fwsn- Simon Stone (@sistoney67) June 3, 2018
Cheers and a few boos as Coutinho's name is announced. Firmino gets the loudest reception.- Neil Jones (@neiljonesgoal) June 3, 2018
Anfield not full by any means, but lots of enthusiasm from the Croatian fans in the Anfield Road end, and loads of yellow shirts elsewhere.

A mixture of applause and boos on Coutinho's departure.- Jim Beglin (@jimbeglin) June 3, 2018
Thought Coutinho was crap today. Didn't look happy, I'm delighted to report .- Robert G (@RobGutmann) June 3, 2018
don't get why you'd want to boo Coutinho. He's moved on, LFC has definitely moved on.- Mad Mick (@RedsGoMarchin) June 3, 2018
If your booing him today you'd likely be singing his name in years to come as per the case with Torres after booing him for years. Let it go pic.twitter.com/FvkYzZDG6z
I don't like him or how he did is. But he gave everything everytime he was on the field for us and he is a pro footballer with a limited career. So I forgave him and got over it instead of booing at a game I paid to go see. I don't think I good ever boo an athlete. That's deluded- Just Gaz:tm: 2K18 (@gazzasymons) June 3, 2018
Should Coutinho have been booked?
