Claudio Bravo's wife has ripped into members of Chilean national team after their failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup.

The Confederations Cup finalists were soundly beaten 3-0 by Brazil last night, and because of results elsewhere, they finished sixth.

Lionel Messi inspired Argentina to a 3-1 win over Ecuador, scoring a hat-trick and resulting Jorge Sampaoli's side finished in third and claiming an automatic spot.

Peru's 1-1 draw with Colombia saw the former claim the play-off spot as they were two goals better off than Chile, while the latter finished in the final automatic place, one point better off than Chile.

And the wife of Chile and Manchester City goalkeeper Bravo, Carla Pardo, has laid into the La Roja players, except her husband, in a scathing Instagram post.

Along with a picture of her other half lifting the Copa America, she posted the following message:

As translated via The Mirror, it reads:

"Thanks for all the beautiful times my national team.

"Thanks my Captain America [Bravo] for all the moments we have experienced. It was truly beautiful.

"But when one wears the [national team] jersey it has to be with professionalism.

"I know that the majority bust their ass, while others were partying and even missing training because of the drunkenness they had.

"If the shoe fits, wear it, and stop crying. Because now the whole country is crying. Waiting for you my captain with open arms."

Jheeeze! She's stuck the knife right in there, hasn't she? Bravo himself is quoted as saying the following in response to his wife's comments:

"Things have to be talked about from within, it's not the time to wash dirty laundry in public, and that's all I will say.

"Those who are here know the responsibility. We are all adults and each of us are responsible for their own things."

Arturo Vidal has already announced his retirement from international football following last night's result, and Bravo, who has been capped 119 times for his country, is widely speculated to hanging up his gloves when it comes to national team proceedings.
