Celtic's 69 Game Unbeaten Domestic Run Has Just Been Ended

Celtic's 69 Game Unbeaten Domestic Run Has Just Been Ended

The streak is over!

It has been well over a year and a half since Celtic last lost a domestic game but today in Edinburgh they were beaten 4-0 by Hearts, ending a 69 game unbeaten streak.

The last time Celtic lost a game in Scotland the idea of Donald Trump being president of America was still just a joke.

Muhammad Ali was still alive and Britain had yet to make their mind up on Brexit- considering how long ago that now feels you kind of get the point.

A 2-1 loss away against St Johnstone in May 2016 was the last time that Brendan Rodgers team had faced defeat anywhere other than European competition until this afternoon.

Hearts led 2-0 at half time through goals from 16 year old Harry Cochrane and Kyle Lafferty and a brace from Manuel Milinkovic in the second half made it four to the Edinburgh side.

Fair play to Celtic wanting the streak to end on 69, nice! Also fair play to Hearts for becoming Scottish football's Brock Lesnar!

Twitter went into overdrive about the surprising result:
