Alex Scott is easily becoming one of the best football pundits on television but following an incident with Graeme Souness on Super Sunday the former Arsenal Ladies' player responded to criticism of her.

Football pundits certainly split opinion amongst fans, which can often be determined by whether they are criticising or praising your club, and that was certainly the case for Alex Scott on Sunday.

The former Arsenal Ladies player was highly praised last summer for her work during the World Cup working for BBC Sport and that got her a gig this season working for Sky Sports.

On Sunday she was working on Super Sunday for Leicester vs Manchester United and Manchester City vs Arsenal and was part of some controversy after Graeme Souness interrupted her and then rudely dismissed her.

The former Liverpool player came under a lot of criticism for his part in the incident but as is the way of the world Scott's punditry, which is already top class, also received a fair bit of criticism, seemingly mainly because she has the gall to be a woman.

The 34 year old has remained quiet on the subject until now but took to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon to respond and thank those who have backed her:

On Sunday Souness had interrupted his colleague when she was talking about a 'low block' as he wasn't sure what it was and when Scott responded he simply dismissed her saying 'Okay. Defending deep.'

It wasn't that the former Newcastle United manager didn't know what the 'low block' was but the fact that he was so rude to his fellow pundit that annoyed so many people.

There's no doubt that Scott is fast developing into one of the best pundits around.
