Joe Hart has signed on loan for West Ham for the forthcoming season, and the West Ham board are undeniably pleased with the bit of business they have pulled.

Despite returning to pre-season, it was clear that Hart was still surplus to requirements at the Etihad Stadium and with no team willing to meet City's valuation for a permanent deal, West Ham have swooped in and signed him on a season-long deal, with the option to make the move permanent for £10 million at the end of the season.

The club unveiled Hart as a West Ham player yesterday, and the England goalkeeper has joined up with the squad for their pre-season tour of Austria.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan has expressed his delight at bringing Hart, a four-time Premier League Golden Glove winner, to the club.

The joint-chairman signed Hart on loan for Birmingham when he and business partner David Gold were running things at St Andrews, and the stint proved to be a crucial turning point in his City career as he then went on to become first-choice at Manchester City.

And he's gone as far as saying that Hart is the best goalkeeper he has ever worked with.

Speaking to the official West Ham website, he said:

"Joe was absolutely fantastic for us at Birmingham City eight years ago. He is the best goalkeeper I've worked with and I fully expect him to be equally as good for us this coming season.

"I have been working on this transfer for some months and to see Joe wearing a West Ham United shirt is very satisfying. I expect him to be a great player for our club and can't wait to see him in a Hammers shirt at London Stadium for the first time.

"Joe has gone from strength to strength since his season at Birmingham, when he was voted Player of the Year, and it would not surprise me at all if he is in the running for the Hammer of the Year award come next May."

But the comment at the start of the quote has not gone down well with West Ham goalkeeper Adrian, who reacted angrily on social media to the "best goalkeeper I've worked with" snippet.

He's not a happy chap at all, is he?
