The 20 Fastest Players In The Premier League This Season

You wouldn't want to be a defender facing up to some of these Premier League speedsters but some of them are defenders!

Football isn't all about speed, as Teddy Sheringham spent his career proving, but it's certainly helpful. Now the 20 quickest players in the Premier League this season have been revealed and there's definitely some surprises.

FIFA 19 comes out very soon, just in time for pay day in September handily enough, and as we all know speed is one of the most helpful attributes on the game, especially if like me you have very little actual skill so just running at people is your best bet.

Like in real life it's not all that counts but there is nothing better than finding that speedster in a 3.5 star rated team when you and your mates have decided not to be Real Madrid, Barcelona, PSG, Manchester City or Juventus just this once.

Fortunately you don't really have to go too far from the Premier League to find some surprisingly quick players floating about in the mid table sides.

Opta, via the Daily Mail, ran the stats to find out who had recorded the top 20 fastest runs in the Premier League so far this season. Personally I'd have preferred it if they got all the players to have a massive race:

20. Callum Paterson ' Cardiff ' 34.347 km/h vs Newcastle
19. Ricardo Pereira ' Leicester ' 34.353 vs Southampton
18. Mason Holgate ' Everton ' 34.361 vs Bournemouth
17. Ben Chilwell ' Leicester ' 34.380 vs Wolves
16. Ben Chilwell ' Leicester ' 34.385 vs Southampton
15. Raul Jimenez ' Wolves ' 34.389 vs Manchester City
14. Josh Murphy ' Cardiff ' 34.397 vs Huddersfield
13. Isaac Mbenza ' Huddersfield ' 34.460 vs Cardiff
12. Nathaniel Mendez-Laing ' Cardiff ' 34.485 vs Newcastle
11. Adama Diakhaby ' Huddersfield ' 34.511 vs Manchester City
10. Kevin De Bruyne ' Man City ' 34.568 vs Arsenal
9. Richarlison ' Everton ' 34.655 vs Southampton
8. Leroy Sane ' Man City ' 34.692 vs Huddersfield

7. Timothy Fosu-Mensah ' Fulham ' 34.724 vs Burnley
6. Timothy Fosu-Mensah ' Fulham ' 34.738 vs Tottenham
5. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ' Arsenal ' 34.753 vs Manchester City
4. Ryan Fredericks ' West Ham ' 34.767 vs Arsenal
3. Aaron Lennon ' Burnley ' 34.826 vs Southampton
2. Kyle Walker ' Manchester City ' 34.845 vs Arsenal
1. Dominic Calvert-Lewin ' Everton ' 34.935 vs Southampton

There's certainly one or two surprises in there, especially in the order of some of the players, with Hector Bellerin's absence maybe the biggest of the lot.

Having made his debut for Central Coast Mariners yesterday, Usain Bolt will be eyeing up those times as if they were nothing.
