Adrien Rabiot was unceremoniously dropped from PSG's starting XI against Liverpool in the Champions League on Wednesday night, in a must win game. Thomas Tuchel revealed why he took that step.
In a generation of football where we are constantly told that the squad is important it is pretty rare that a manager won't make a change in his team from one game to the next.
Some players can get dropped or rested or left out of a team without too much notice but when some players get dropped it's plastered all over social media and spoken about for hours both before and after the match.
Ahead of PSG's Champions League game with Liverpool on Wednesday night all the talk was that Adrien Rabiot had been dropped for a pre match argument with manager Thomas Tuchel.

When the teams were announced the Frenchman was missing from the starting line up but was on the bench.
And before the match Tuchel revealed the real reason that he'd put Rabiot on the bench, claiming it was actually tactical:
Of course there's every chance that the former Borussia Dortmund boss was just playing down the situation with the midfielder, especially with issues around his future at the club still up in the air.

Rabiot's contract runs out at the end of the season and he is so far yet to sign a new one. Liverpool, Spurs and Barcelona have all been linked with the player and according to reports he was due to sit down with the owner of PSG this week to discuss his contract.
PSG instead started with Marco Verratti and Marquinhos in midfield a Tuchel decided to go for a 4-4-2 formation.
It seemed to work with the Ligue 1 champions taking an early 2-0 lead in the first half before James Milner's penalty on half time gave the Premier League side hope.
