He said in the last 15-20 years he is one of the best players to be signed to England's top tier.

If you thought that pundits starting to wonder if Manchester City were the best Premier League side ever was a bit of an over exgatertation then Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp has taken the over the top statement to a new level!

Manchester City are really bloody good, you don't get to the position they're in right now, playing the football they've been playing, without being on a whole other level compared to everyone else.

However the suggestion that they're already one of, if not the, best Premier League sides ever is a bit fanciful long before they've won anything, never mind had an extended period of success.

But Jamie Redknapp managed to take it to a whole new level this afternoon. Discussing his team of the year, with Jeff Stelling and fellow pundit Paul Merson, the former Liverpool midfielder claimed Fernandinho was one of the best signings of the past 15-20 years, saying:

"I could have made an argument for Matic but I've gone for Fernandinho, he's been one of THE best signings of the Premier League in the last 15-20 years he really has, I'm a big fan."

Fellow fool Merson then added, "If he doesn't play for Manchester City now I don't think they're the same team. He breaks everything, he's the one that gives the others the confidence to go forward."

Sure Fernandinho's been pretty decent this season, probably deservedly in the team of the year, but come on. Without needing much time to think assistant editor at SPORTbible, Joe Baiamonte, came up with a top 11 of better signings, in no particular order:

"Hazard to Chelsea, Aguero to City, Suarez to Liverpool, RVP to United, Eriksen to Spurs, De Gea to United, Silva to City, Bale to Spurs, Kompany to City, Kante to Leicester and Azpilicueta to Chelsea."

And fans weren't impressed with Redknapp either:

I need to find out what Redknapp's on and then I need to decide if I want to take some or leave it well alone!
