Paul Pogba couldn't have many worse nights as a footballer than on Wednesday when he was the main suspect in Manchester United's awful performance against Spurs. Now Jose Mourinho has revealed why he's dropped Pogba today.

For much of the season Pogba has been Manchester United's best player, their brilliant form at the beginning of the season gave way when he picked up an injury and they've arguably not got back to their best since, and neither has he.

On Wednesday night the Red Devils put in probably their worst showing of the season, going down 2-0 to an excellent Spurs side with Pogba arguably the worst performer and subbed off.

Pogba would have fit into our terrible football compilation quite well on Wednesday:

Today against Huddersfield the Frenchman was made to start on the bench, with Anthony Martial and Phil Jones also dropped, with Jones not even in the 18 for the game.

Scott McTominay came into the side to replace the £89 million midfielder and speaking ahead of the match Mourinho revealed that McTominay being deserving of a start is exactly why he dropped Pogba, saying:

"I play Scott McTominay. He arrived here aged nine years old and spent many years in the academy, he has been waiting for an opportunity which I give him now and again, today is another one."

Fans weren't too impressed with the decision it's fair to say:

You've got to feel sorry for the 21 year old, it's not like he's done anything wrong.
