Son Heung-Min has been pictured in full camouflage gear, though you can still see him, and holding a gun as the first images from his military service in South Korea appear.

Conscription in South Korea has been compulsory since 1957 and men have to do 21 months of service between the age of 18 and 28, which meant Son may have had a near two year pause on his career during his peak.

However the Spurs star, and his teammates, were given exemptions for winning Gold at the Asian Games in 2018, although he still had to undergo four weeks of military training.

The 27-year-old has been using the coronavirus lockdown in England to do his service at home in South Korea an the first images have emerged.

Son has been with the marine corps in Jeju Island, which is south of the mainland, and is due to complete his service on Sunday, before flying back to the UK.

That could be perfect timing as Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to 'ease' lockdown restrictions on Sunday, which could see the return of the Premier League in the near future.

The former Bayer Leverkusen forward is expected to have to quarantine for 14 days before being allowed to return to training but he could soon be part of Spurs push to finish in the top four.

Son picked up an injury in the 3-2 win against Aston Villa in February, fracturing his arm despite scoring two goals, and was expected to be out for much of the rest of the season, a long with fellow forward Harry Kane.

He missed six games in all competitions, as Jose Mourinho's side crashed out of the Champions League and FA Cup, but the pause in the season means that he may not miss any more games.

Mourinho had also expressed expectation that Kane would return in time for originally scheduled May 9th game against Leicester City, meaning the north London club could be at full strength on the league's return.

Spurs are currently eighth in the league, four points behind fifth place Manchester United and a further three outside the top four, but local rivals Arsenal are just one point behind with a game in hand.

Will Son and Kane return to lead Spurs into the Champions League? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
