Fans Name Players They Wished Had Played At The Same Time

It all started with a Liverpool fan wishing that Steven Gerrard and Trent Alexander-Arnold had played for the Reds at the same time.

Imagine a world where your team's best two players were at the club at the same time, that's exactly what fans on Twitter have been doing.

One Liverpool fan asked his fellow football fans which two players from their team's history they would have loved to see playing alongside each other.

@PrimeOxlade didn't choose Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain playing alongside Fernando Torres, as his handle might have predicted, but rather he wanted to see Steven Gerrard and Trent Alexander-Arnold playing in the same side.

Interestingly the pairing of Ronaldo and Messi got an extremely good shout but of course it was Lionel playing alongside former Barca and Brazil striker Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima.

And two sets of fans liked the idea of Messi's former teammate Neymar playing alongside another Brazilian icon, this time in the form of Ronaldinho, with both players having played for Barca and PSG.

One pair that got through that did play together was Harry Kane and Gareth Bale playing together for Spurs. However one fan pointed out that the two men only played together for four minutes in a league game, so we're pretty certain it's still allowed to count.

Some of these pairings are properly dreamy, any manager with Claude Makelele and N'Golo Kante in midfield wouldn't need to think about the workrate of the rest of their team, whilst some look like they'd be a bit more difficult to manage.

However if you're trying to work out how the hell to get both Ronaldinho and Neymar in your team then that's a pretty good problem to have.

Who would be your pair?
