Could Jose Mourinho Be About To Move For One Of His Former Players?

Could Jose Mourinho Be About To Move For One Of His Former Players?

Jose loves signing his old players, and one is available on a free.

Though it's not quite Harry Redknapp levels, Jose Mourinho has a thing for signing players he has worked with before. But could he be about to add another to the collection?

Sport Witness suggest that the Manchester United boss could well be tempted to go in for experienced midfielder Lassana Diarra, who is a free agent.

The Frenchman is vastly experienced in the game, having turned out for the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid. He barely turned out for the first two teams, but went on to make over 100 appearances for Los Blancos after joining from Portsmouth - and won three trophies under Mourinho.

Having just left UAE side Al Jazira, he has been heavily linked with a move to Ligue One leaders PSG, who see him as someone can fill in for Thiago Motta in midfield.

United are also a little light in midfield and you wouldn't past Mourinho drafting in one of his former players on a free to add another option. It's worth noting that it's merely a suggestion from Sport Witness, not an exclusive transfer story, but it does make sense.

And if does actually end up happening, it will continue the trend of Mourinho snapping up players for multiple clubs.

When Nemanja Matic joined United in the summer, he joined a star-studded list of players to have worked with 'The Special One' on several occasions.

For starters, Portuguese pair Paulo Ferreira and Ricardo Carvalho were both key players for Mourinho in his game-changing stint at Porto, where he won the Champions League in 2004 and well and truly announced himself to the football world.

So when the Portuguese moved to Chelsea, Ferreira and Carvalho were two of his first signings at the club - with the latter going on to link up with Mourinho again and winning more silverware at Real Madrid.

Another former Portugal international to have played under Mourinho three times is Maniche. The midfielder was at Benfica when Mourinho joined the club in 2000 in what was a short and unsuccessful tenure.

Mourinho would move to Porto after impressing at União de Leiria and signed the 40-year old for a second time, before bringing him to Stamford Bridge on loan in 2006.

The other stand-out names to have worked with Mourinho at more than one club include decorated strikers Hernan Crespo, Samuel Eto'o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who all served him well in different environments and clubs.

Could you see Diarra joining the list? If he does, he would become the third player in history to play for Mourinho for three different clubs.
