Bruno Fernandes Is Getting 'More And More Frustrated' With Manchester United Teammates

Bruno Fernandes Is Getting 'More And More Frustrated' With Manchester United Teammates

Ian Wright has warned 'perfectionist' Bruno Fernandes against showing his 'frustration' at Manchester United teammates, claiming it could demoralise the other players.

Fernandes joined United at the end of January 2020 and turned their season around to help them finish third, when Champions League qualification had previously looked unlikely.

His form has continued this season and his 15 goals and 10 assists in the league have taken Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's team to 2nd in the Premier League, only behind rivals Manchester City, and in the past year he has matched Lionel Messi's figures.

The Portuguese star is clearly important for United if they are to stay in that position but Wright is worried that the former Sporting player showing frustration towards teammates could demoralise them.

"I look at Bruno Fernandes and he just seems to be getting more and more frustrated with people when I'm watching him," the Arsenal legend said on his podcast Wrighty's House.

"I don't want people to take this wrong and say, 'Oh, Wrighty's digging him out,' I'm not digging him out, I just look at leaders like him, he's obviously the leader of Manchester United, it's blatantly obvious to see.

"Dennis [Bergkamp] was the leader for us on the pitch and I never saw him get frustrated with individuals to the point where he was turning and doing that thing because it's so demoralising for you.

Of course with his 34 goals in 59 appearances in all competitions for the team, you can understand why Bruno might get frustrated with teammates.

However the 26-year-old's game is hardly one of a 'perfectionist' as he has a high risk, high reward style of passing, with only a 77.4% pass success rate in the league.

He would also not exactly be the first Portuguese star to show frustration on the Old Trafford pitch, with Cristiano Ronaldo often left with his head in his hands, either because of what he'd done or his teammates.

Another legend of a United rival, Dirk Kuyt, has claimed that Fernandes is one of the best players in the world at the moment.

Talking about countryman Donny van de Beek not getting any game time, the former Liverpool forward, one of only a few players to score a Premier League hat-trick against United, said, "I think Donny has been very unfortunate because there are no better players than [Bruno] Fernandes in the world at the moment and he's playing in his position."
