Premier League Star Believes He Would Be Liverpool's 'Main Man'

The player admitted he would have to accept an offer from Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool.

Brentford star Ivan Toney has said he would jump at the chance to join Liverpool if they were interested in signing him.

The 25-year-old has impressed for the Bees in the Premier League after firing them to promotion from the Championship last term, scoring a record-breaking 31 goals in 45 appearances.

Many have tipped the former Peterborough and Northampton Town man to play at a higher level and he admits he'd join Liverpool, the club he supports, without hesitation.

"I support Liverpool,” Toney said speaking during an appearance on the 'On The Judy' podcast, as per the Liverpool Echo.

“If they come knocking who knows? Who knows.

“I’d have to go to Liverpool and make myself the main man."

Toney played against Liverpool for the first time of his career this season, leading the line in a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Brentford Community Stadium last month.

He thought he had scored the winning goal against the team he followed as a boy but the strike was chalked off for offside.


Liverpool are believed to looking for attacking reinforcements, with Jurgen Klopp reportedly asking the club to secure a double swoop for Leicester City's Harvey Barnes and Luka Jovic of Real Madrid in the January transfer window.

A slew of players have been scouted by Michael Edwards, but according to FichajesBarnes and Jovic have been identified as two key targets.

Klopp has already revealed his admiration for Barnes, who was called up to the England squad term.

Speaking in a press conference, the Reds boss said: "Barnes is probably one of the biggest talents, I’m not sure if he is respected or appreciated as much as he should be, he is an unbelievable player to be honest, a proper Leicester product."
