'Save Us' - Arsenal Told To Sack Mikel Arteta And Pay His Replacement 'Whatever He Wants'

'Save Us' - Arsenal Told To Sack Mikel Arteta And Pay His Replacement 'Whatever He Wants'

Piers Morgan wants Antonio Conte to save Arsenal "from this monotonous misery" as pressure continues to mount on Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

Piers Morgan has claimed that Arsenal should axe under-fire manager Mikel Arteta and replace him with former Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte.

Arteta has been handed additional funds by the Premier League club this summer in a bid to bolster his squad.

Arsenal splashed out a hefty £52.6 to sign Ben White from Brighton and £31.5m to land Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid.

Aaron Ramsdale arrived at the Emirates from Sheffield United in a £25.2m deal, while Arsenal signed Albert Sambi Lokonga for £15.7m from Anderlecht and Nuno Tavares from Benfica for £7.2m.

However, Arsenal currently sit in the relegation zone after back-to-back Premier League defeats in the new season.

Brentford stunned the Gunners in their opening Premier League clash with a sensational 2-0 win at home.

Arteta’s woes continued with Arsenal’s 2-0 defeat to London rivals Chelsea at the Emirates on Sunday.

Arsenal fan Morgan took to Twitter to call for the 39-year-old Spaniard to be sacked after the Gunners’ poor start to the season.

The former Good Morning Britain co-presenter insisted that Arsenal should pay Conte “whatever he wants” to “save” Arsenal.

Morgan tweeted to his 7.9m followers: “Pay this man whatever he wants to save us from this monotonous misery.”

Conte ended Juventus’ dominance over Italian football last season by leading Inter to the Serie A title.

However, the 52-year-old Italian manager left Inter in May after a reported disagreement over the club’s summer transfer policy.

Conte, who lifted a Premier League title and FA Cup with Chelsea, was heavily linked with Tottenham before talks collapsed.

“Money is not my obsession,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport in June.

“I look at projects and I'm ready to stay at home if they don't convince me.

“I like difficult challenges but if there is something with a club that does not convince me, I prefer to say: no, thank you.”

Arsenal will return to action on Wednesday for their Carabao Cup clash with West Brom at The Hawthorns.
