Piers Morgan Has Messaged Cristiano Ronaldo In An Attempt To Get Him To Join Arsenal

Piers Morgan Has Messaged Cristiano Ronaldo In An Attempt To Get Him To Join Arsenal

Cristiano Ronaldo has told Manchester United he wants to leave and Piers Morgan is desperately trying to get him to sign for Arsenal.

Piers Morgan is trying to tap up Cristiano Ronaldo for Arsenal after the Portuguese superstar told Manchester United his wish to leave this summer.

On Saturday, a report from The Times claimed that Ronaldo had asked United to let him go if a "satisfactory offer" comes in for him in the summer transfer window.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner returned to Old Trafford last summer and scored 24 goals in 38 games in all competitions.

But it was a disappointing season for the Red Devils, who had their lowest points tally in the Premier League era and finished with a goal difference of zero.

Ronaldo, now 37, wants to be playing Champions League football for the final years of his career and continue to break records in the competition where he is the all-time top scorer.

But Morgan is doing his best to try and convince Ronaldo to move to Arsenal, who are also playing in the Europa League next term after finishing a place above.

The 57-year-old broadcaster is a staunch Gunners fan and is also a Ronaldo fanboy - notably sitting down with him for a lengthy ITV interview.

Upon hearing the news of him wanting to leave United, Morgan quickly tweeted a picture of him handing an Arsenal shirt to Ronaldo, with the caption, "It’s time @Cristiano #afc".

A fan thought it was very speculative from Morgan and wrote "in your dreams" in response.

Morgan replied, and in a quote-tweet, revealed he has been in touch with Ronaldo trying to get him to make a switch to the Emirates.

He wrote: “It is, but Cristiano likes breaking new ground in football & I just told him that God + Jesus upfront is an irresistible opportunity…”

Gabriel Jesus is to become Arsenal's new number No.9, with the club set to confirm a £45 million deal for the Brazilian striker.

Last month, Ronaldo's super agent Jorge Mendes reportedly held discussions over a possible transfer with Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.

The two met up in Portugal and Ronaldo's availability was one of the subject matters during the conversations.

Mendes is also believed to have offered his star client to Bayern Munich but the club are said to have been deterred by the finances needed to pull off such a deal.

It's not the first time Morgan has tried to get Ronaldo to come to North London, while back in December the former Real Madrid star trolled the TV personality over text after scoring two against Arsenal.

After the 3-2 win, Ronaldo, according to Morgan, said "Sorry" and a laughing emoji.
