Pele has headed a long list of football personalities in congratulating Cristiano Ronaldo as the returning Manchester United legend took to Instagram in display of his delight at official confirmation from the club.
The three time World Cup winner - as we all have - has been gripped by the news that the 36-year-old is returning to Old Trafford for one last dance. They say great recognises great and in football royalty terms, Pele and Ronaldo have no problem getting into the party of the best there has ever been. The 80-year-old sent some words of wisdom to the Euro 2020 Golden Boot winner.
"There is no better feeling than conquering the world and returning home. Always be happy, Cristiano."

You can imagine it now can't you? Pele on a beach in Brazil; overlooking the horizon and with sunglasses on as one of his team approaches him. 'Ronaldo has spoken, do you want to send a message? to which Pele speaks those 15 words without hesitation. The man has felt all of the magic football has got to give and he has let the rest of us know that he is watching and supporting the Portugal captain on his dream homecoming.
Indeed, Pele who burst onto the scene in the 1958 World Cup and broke multiple records throughout his career, has always been an advocate of Ronaldo's ability over that of Lionel Messi. Whenever he has been quizzed on the debate between the two modern day idol's, Pele has always favoured the former Real Madrid and Juventus man. Speaking last year he said:

"Today the best player in the world is Cristiano Ronaldo. "I think he's the best, because he's more consistent, but you can't forget about [Lionel] Messi, of course, but he's not a striker."
Elsewhere in the comments of Ronaldo's post, as you can expect, his teammates have been amongst the pack. Marcus Rashford and fellow new signing Raphael Varane, who played with Ronaldo at Madrid of course, welcomed him home. What a teammate he is going to be for those young United players such as Rashford and Greenwood. There was also fellow former Real Madrid marksman Raul. But not everyone got a response from the star attraction. Pele, of course, did. And here's what Ronaldo's response read.
"It is always great to return to a home where we were already happy, thank you very much for your support."
