From N'Golo Kante and Jorginho to Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes, the best of the best in central midfield have been named and ranked.

Chelsea star N'Golo Kante shockingly ranked behind club teammate Jorginho in the 10 best central midfielders in world football right now.

The 30-year-old French midfielder was instrumental in Chelsea’s Champions League triumph last season.

Kante made 13 appearances for Chelsea in Europe’s top-tier club competition and scored four times and assisted once en route to the final in Portugal.

The France international helped Chelsea keep nine clean sheets and won four Player of the Match awards in the Champions League.

Kante’s exploits last season have put him alongside Jorginho and Lionel Messi as potential challengers for the 2021 Ballon d'Or award.

FourFourTwo placed the 2018 World Cup winner seventh in its rankings, saying he is the “best ball-winner” in football.

The publication added that Kante is a “workhorse” and “underrated in terms of what he can do on the ball.”

The former Leicester City midfielder ranked ahead of Marcos Llorente, Leon Goretzka and Ilkay Gundogan.

Jorginho, on the other hand, beat the likes of Kante and Manchester United star Paul Pogba to be named the third best midfielder in world football.
