After his move to China collapsed, Gareth Bale is now set to remain at Real Madrid until January.

Bale, deemed surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu, looked nailed on to move to the Chinese Super League with Jiangsu Suning in a lucrative deal.

But Jiangsu were not willing to pay Real Madrid a fee alongside hefty wages of more than £1 million-a-week for the Southampton youth product and the 13-time European champions subsequently called the deal off.

The transfer window in China has now closed and there's next to no chance of Bale moving elsewhere in Europe, with AS saying he is "prepared to dig in his heels" as he has no plans to actively seek a transfer.

Bale is not wanted by Zinedine Zidane but intends to stay put - feeling as though he could well outlast the Frenchman, who is under pressure following a dismal pre-season. His hope is that Zidane will get the boot and his situation will be different if a new manager came in.

The 29-year old featured in some pre-season games for Los Blancos Bale did not travel with the squad for the trip to play in Munich as part of the Audi Cup tournament as he was deemed to be ill by Real.

The Welshman was expected to train back in the Spanish capital but El Confidencial posted a picture of the wantaway star at the Ciudad Grupo Santander golf course as Real were beaten 1-0 by Tottenham in Munich.

Speaking to the media about reports Bale was golfing, Zidane said: "You are telling me something that has surely happened. I'm here with my players, and I'm not going to comment on that.

"I hope he trained there. We are here, thinking about the team."

As per the BBC, Zidane was quizzed on Bale's attitude and reminded him of his responsibilities.

He added: "Well, we'll see when we get back. I will not prevent someone from doing something. He has to look after his responsibilities.

"We will see what he has done in Madrid. I will not get into his personal life. But I think he has done training."
