Zinedine Zidane and Kylian Mbappe's fight for the ball at the Santiago Bernabeu last night is just hilarious without context.

With Zidane on the touchline and Mbappe on the pitch, the French pair tussled for the ball after the PSG's No.7 momentum took him off the pitch.

It was Mbappe who got to the ball ahead of his compatriot before the two shared a handshake.

But the encounter has prompted a number of brilliant reactions on social media - with the still image genuinely looking like Zidane was trying to abduct the 19-year old.

There's a fair bit of history between Zidane and Mbappe given the Real Madrid boss watched him as a youngster for hometown clubs AS Bondy many moons ago.

Mbappe, who is continually linked with a move to the Spanish capital, actually had a trial at Real before he became the world superstar he is today.

And Zidane professed his love for the 20-year old prior to the 2-2 draw in which Mbappe scored PSG's first.

"I've known him for a long time," Zidane said in his pre-match press conference.

"I'm in love with him, firstly as a person, because he came to do a trial here a while ago. He is a rival, and that's it. I cannot say anything else."

PSG sporting director Leonardo was asked about Zidane's flirting after the French outfit fought back from 2-0 down to claim top spot in Group A and stated Mbappe won't be linking up with him anytime soon.

"Did he say that? I hadn't seen anything!" the Brazilian joked, as per Goal.

"The only thing I know is that Mbappe is 100 per cent staying here. The rest is by the by.

"We are moving slowly [on a new contract] but we are going forward.
