Yeovil Town captain Lee Collins has sadly passed away at the age of just 32, with the club's game with Altrincham tomorrow now postponed.

Collins, who joined the National League side in June 2019, helped the Glovers to the play-offs last season, in the curtailed league season, and made eight appearances this season.

On Thursday, the club announced the news in a statement on the website. "All at Yeovil Town Football Club are mourning the loss of club captain Lee Collins.

''Lee sadly passed away yesterday and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

"We ask everyone to respect the family's privacy at this time.

"The club will make no further comment at this time.

"Our game with Altrincham tomorrow has been postponed."

The centre back came through the academy at Wolves and was promoted to the first team from the youth set up, though he never made an appearance for the first team.

Collins joined League Two side Port Vale in 2009, having spent the previous year on loan at the club, he made 163 appearances for the team and earned a move to Barnsley in March 2012, initially on loan.

After a short stint with the Tykes he moved back to League Two and played 200 games across spells at Northampton Town, Mansfield Town and Forest Green Rovers, before the move to Yeovil.

Our thoughts are with Collins' family, friends and teammates.
