Wolves have just broken their club record transfer in signing Adama Traore for £18 million but their big spending could well continue with the potential arrival of AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie.

Kessie joined the Rossoneri on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy from Atalanta a year ago and went on to make 54 appearances in all competitions last season.

But as we enter the final day of the transfer window for English clubs, and with Wolves still looking for more reinforcements ahead of the new top-flight campaign, they have identified the Ivory Coast international as a target to strengthen their midfield even further.

Reports in Italy say the 2017/18 Championship winners are prepared to pay a club-record £36 million fee for the 21-year old, who Milan Manager Gennaro Gattuso said "is far better than I ever was" during an interview last season.

Including loans and players from last season to have joined permanently, as well as the weird signing and swift loaning out of Benik Afobe, Wolves have added a total of 12 players this summer.

Should a deal be thrashed out with Kessie before the deadline closes tomorrow evening, he would complete a dreamy midfield alongside Portuguese duo Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho.

However, Kessie is said to be happy at the San Siro and they look more likely to sign Belgium international Leander Dendoncker instead.

The Molineux club are also still hopeful of completing a £16 million deal for Manchester City's Oleksandr Zinchenko, with the player still yet to decide on his future at the time of writing.
