Arsenal had triggered Jamie Vardy's release clause, but, after some deliberation, he's decided to remain at The King Power Stadium.

The former non-league player is currently with the England squad as they prepare for their knock-out tie with minnows Iceland. It was on England duty where he had to mull over the decision, though Leicester officially confirmed on Thursday that the 24-goal man would indeed be signing a new contract with the defending Premier League champions.

Why did he come to this decision?

Well, Sky Sports are reporting that Vardy felt the possession-based style of football applied by Arsene Wenger wouldn't be beneficial to his strengths, who proved to thrive under Claudio Ranieri's counter-attacking approach.

The 29-year-old will return from the Euro's with the Foxes as they look forward to a campaign defending their title as well as Champions League football. In the meantime, Vardy will be pushing for another start against Iceland on Monday afternoon as England look to advance to the quarter-finals.

Arsenal are now back in the market for another forward.
