Cristiano Ronaldo's incredible daily schedule includes five or six 90-minute snoozes.

The 35-year-old has maintained a ridiculous level of consistency at the highest level and his regular rest has contributed to his success

Ronaldo has been working with sleep coach Nick Littlehales since his glittering sleep at Real Madrid and the specialist has stressed just how important the snoozes are.

"It is not a nap, this is for older people who watch television," Littlehales said, as per Record.

"It is a way to sleep less, but to improve recovery.

"Football players have private lives. The sport they play has very demanding schedules, which will continue to be so.

"Many young athletes I work with suffer from insomnia, anxiety, stress and all those things that end up being part of the world of sport."

It's often been said that eight hours sleep per night is the correct amount but Littlehales reckons that it's best to have rest spaced in cycles - especially for someone like Ronaldo given he is playing and train with Juventus, as well as doing his own workouts at home.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been carefully instructed not to staring at screens on his phone or the TV an hour and a half before bed, as well as resting on fresh bedding in the foetal position.

When at Real under Carlo Ancelotti, there was a point where Ronaldo was the only player who could use the customised sleeping pod at their training facility.

Littlehales has worked with NBA, NFL and NHL sides as well as Manchester City, but he received a big breakthrough in the football world when Sir Alex Ferguson required his expertise.

Manchester United defender Gary Pallister was suffering from back problems and so Littlehales was drafted in to find a solution.

Recently, Barcelona star Lionel Messi has been using a Tech Moon mattress which is said to completely erase traces of COVID-19 from the bed if someone with the virus sleeps on top of it thanks to a system called 'Viruclean".

In terms of the science behind it, it's claimed the mattress has nanoparticles embedded in the tissue material that in turn enables it to remove over 99 percent of bacteria - effectively killing the infection.
