It appeared Alvaro Morata was booked by Lee Mason for stuffing the ball under his shirt after scoring against Bournemouth. But an image surfacing suggests the reason he was really cautioned.

The Spaniard bagged the match-winner against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup quarter-final to secure their spot in the semi-finals opposite Arsenal.

And he celebrated by paying homage to his pregnant wife. After netting in stoppage time, he grabbed the ball and put it under his shirt.

Morata was subsequently branded a yellow card by the referee who dampened the touching moment.

Though he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season for holding up play, then kicking the ball away, delaying Bournemouth's efforts of kicking-off to grab another goal.

As a result, he's absent for Chelsea's Premier League game against Everton on Saturday lunchtime.

Antonio Conte is disappointed to be without his services, calling it a 'pity'.

"I knew that he tried to celebrate a goal with the ball under the shirt," he said.

The Italian gaffer added: "It's a pity. But we have to accept it. We have to accept the decision and try, at the same time in the future, to pay great attention.

"He's very happy because his wife is expecting a kid. It's very important to see what happened.

"If the referee booked him only because he put a ball under his shirt, I think it's a pity. You can allow this because these are celebrations and you are showing your joy.

"You have to see because then, if something different happened after this, the referee judged it in a different way," Conte added.
