Cristiano Ronaldo has thrown his fair share of strops on the pitch but perhaps his most memorable instance of CR7 losing his head came off it in 2016.

While on a walk with the Portugal national team during Euro 2016 in France, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was approached by a television reporter with a microphone in hand asking a question.

Ronaldo quickly grabbed the mic and angrily threw it in a nearby lake before walking off.

At the time, many were quick to react to what seemed to be an act of petulance from Ronaldo - especially given the journalist was only asking about how the team were preparing for the game against Hungary later on in the day.

But it would then emerge that there was more than meets the eye. The reporter was working for CMTV, who Ronaldo has a history with over the years.

Having seen the channel publish stories about himself and his family that he was not happy with, he subsequently boycotted the outlet - hence his actions when one of their reporters tried to get a word from him.

This incident was ahead of the final group game in Euro 2016, with Portugal eventually going on to win the competition and beat hosts France in the final against the odds.

Ronaldo was injured in the first half of that game and took on a coaching role from the sidelines as Eder came on and scored an extra time winner.
