What Samuel Umtiti Said When Asked About United Transfer Is Very Interesting

Samuel Umtiti provided a very, very interesting answer in response to reports linking him with a move to Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho has made no secrets about his desire to snap up defensive reinforcements once the summer transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

He's reportedly keeping tabs on a few defenders including Barcelona's talented Frenchman.

The 24-year-old has a believed release clause worth £53 million, and Mourinho is keen to trigger the payment to lure him to Old Trafford.

Expect the Umtiti-United transfer rumours to rumble on ahead of the transfer market. But the player himself has stoked the speculation by offering a cryptic answer when asked about a potential switch.

Umtiti, alongside Olivier Giroud, was interviewed by Telefoot and was given a set of questions.

He had the options of 'yes', 'no' or 'joker' - which basically means to avoid the question.

And that's how he answered to questions about his future.

Umtiti is enjoying his second season at Barcelona after completing a €25 million move from Lyon in 2016.

Even though he's become Gerard Pique's defensive partner, he remains subject to intense transfer speculation and United continue to be heavily linked with his services.

Reports suggest United have been in contact with the players brother, Yannick, who's his agent.

It appears Mourinho has also been in direct contact with Umtiti, as he attempts to lure him to Old Trafford.

He's using fellow French stars Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial to sell the potential transfer, too.

Umtiti is reportedly on £3.5 million a year. Though United are prepared to table a massive £8 million a season.
