Argentina were well-and-truly battered against Spain in an international friendly ahead of the World Cup.

'La Roja' spanked the visitors 6-1 (!!) with Real Madrid's Isco bagging a stunning hat-trick, while Diego Costa, Iago Aspas and Thiago also got on the score-sheet.

Though Jorge Sampaoli was without influential leader and talisman Lionel Messi who wasn't risked considering the knock he was carrying.

But, Messi watched on from the stands, and cut a dejected, frustrated figure who watched goal-after-goal go in.

He couldn't bare to watch and left the game early.

It's now reported he headed into the Argentina dressing room, where he delivered a rousing and positive speech.

"We come through this together. United," he reportedly said per Spanish outlet SPORT.

The gesture was appreciated with an unnamed member of the Argentina team who was in the dressing room saying; "What Leo did? Nooooo, really good, really good. Honestly, we needed it."

Leader. That's why Messi is Argentina captain.

"We have to take charge of this game, these things cannot happen to us at the World Cup Spain have slapped us, we have to keep working.

"They are a typical results that can change the coach's perspective if everything is not analysed.
