What Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho said to Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson in their heated exchange has been revealed.

Reports of a melee involving 20 players and staff have emerged and both Mourinho and Ederson were heavily involved in the fracas coming about.

Mourinho, the man who once celebrated getting to a Champions League final by running around the Nou Camp pitch and winding up Victor Valdes, was unhappy with the way in which City celebrated in the dressing room.

Reports say that went into the dressing room to complain about the loud music booming as he felt City were being disrespectful.

City goalkeeper Ederson, who made a stunning double-save late on to deny Romelu Lukaku and Juan Mata, is said to have taken issue with Mourinho's complaints and the two are believed to have engaged in a heated exchange in a narrow corridor outside City's dressing room.

Initially, as per Daniel Taylor from The Guardian, the two insulted one another in their native Portuguese, but Mourinho is then said to have accused the City shotstopper of feigning injury and time-wasting, before shouting "you fucking show respect. Who are you?".

Things escalated from there, with police and stewards having to intervene to stop a bust-up that included 20 players and staff from both set of teams.

Punches are said to have been thrown, Jose Mourinho is said to have had a bottle thrown at him as well as being soaked in milk and water, while City's assistant manager, Mikel Arteta, had his eyebrow split open and had blood streaming down his face as things got nasty.

According to reports, Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, who was at fault for both of City's goals and missed a golden chance to level matters late on, was "prominently involved".

Eventually, thanks to the presence of police and security, the scrap came to a halt. It's a pity that Amazon, who are making a behind the scenes documentary on City, were not granted access by United for the fixture, because the footage they would have captured would have been quite incredible.
