Manchester United new boy Alex Telles was psyched out by Maritimo goalkeeper Amir Abedzadeh during a penalty on his last appearance for Porto.

Telles, 27, signed for United in a transfer worth £15 million on deadline day.

The high-scoring left-back arrives at Old Trafford having scored 11 league goals last season.

He was Porto's designated penalty taker and boasts a formidable record from the spot, but the Brazilian missed his last penalty for his old side on Saturday.

He succumbed to Abedzadeh's mind games after the Iranian stopper was heard saying: "Telles, you're a big player, chip me bro, chip me!"

Telles instead blasted the ball which was brilliantly saved by the man in goal.

Porto missed the chance to equalise and went onto lose the game 3-2.

That happened to be Telles' last showing for Porto as he penned a deal at Old Trafford on Monday.

Speaking about signing for the Premier League side, he said: "To join a club with the prestige of Manchester United is a huge honour.

"You have to work hard to get to this moment in your career and now I am coming to this club, I can promise that I will give everything in my heart to be a success here.

"I won many trophies at FC Porto and I want to continue that at United. The manager has a clear plan and direction for this team and I can't wait to pull on the famous shirt."

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer added: "First and foremost, I welcome Alex to United.

"He is a player we have been tracking for some time and his performances over the past few years are exactly what we are looking for.

"He is a fighter and a winner and will add real determination and competition to the squad.

"Alex has the qualities, both as a player and as a person, that we want here at Manchester United."

Telles could make his United debut against Newcastle on October 17.
