Chelsea officially snapped up Kepa Arrizabalaga after triggering his mighty release clause, and what David De Gea said about the promising Spanish keeper in 2017 now makes for interesting reading.

Kepa, 23, arrives at Stamford Bridge as the most expensive keeper in the world.

Chelsea shelled out a whopping £71 million to acquire his services, surpassing Liverpool's £68 million which they paid for Alisson earlier in the summer.

He fills the void left by Thibaut Courtois who returned to the Spanish capital but with Real Madrid, signing a six-year deal.

The Champions League holders finally sign a goalkeeper after relentless talks over Manchester United's De Gea, who warned Kepa about leaving Spain in 2017 while praising him.

"Kepa is still very young. He has a long career ahead of him. But his head is in the right place," De Gea said about Kepa via ESPN.

De Gea added: "When you train with him you realise that he has a very high level. He is a great goalkeeper. He needs to continue to compete at this level and grow game after game.

"I'm also young and we [De Gea, Kepa and Pepe Reina] are here with the maximum enthusiasm to help the national team.

De Gea then warned Kepa about leaving Spain's top flight, suggesting it's harder to get noticed plying your trade away from La Liga.

"All the players like me that leave Spain, we are not followed as much as those that are playing at home and people forget a little bit about us.

"That is why we try to be there and do things to be talked about."

Kepa, meanwhile, has played a combined 53 league games in the last two seasons. He's also got one international cap to his name.

He'll be hoping to emulate his international compatriots level of success in England.

How will Kepa fare between the sticks? Not long to find out.
