West Ham have been on the look-out for a top-class forward for a while now and have been unsuccessful in their pursuits of the likes of Michy Batshuayi, Alexandre Lacazette and Carlos Bacca.

With Andy Carroll not always able to be relied upon because of his fitness, a new attacker is a necessity for the Hammers this summer, and there's already word on Slaven Bilic preparing a £25 million offer for Arsenal's Theo Walcott.

West Ham have been linked with his Gunners teammate Olivier Giroud, who has also attracted interest from Everton and Lyon.

But it's Walcott who has emerged as a target for the Irons.

The Southampton youth product scored 19 times in all competitions last season but lost his place towards the end of the campaign when Arsenal shifted to a 3-5-2 formation.

He also lost his place in the England squad and has been overlooked by Gareth Southgate, with his last cap coming against Spain in November 2016 when the Three Lions boss had his first game in charge on an interim basis.

With the 2018 World Cup in mind, the 28-year old may well need to leave the Emirates Stadium in order to receive regular game-time.

Walcott would undoubtedly become a key man at the London Stadium if he did make the move, and The Mirror reports West Ham are confident a £25 million bid will be enough for Arsenal to accept.
