Louis van Gaal Wanted His Man Utd Players To Wear Virtual Reality Goggles In Training

Erm, what?

Perhaps Louis van Gaal would've been more of a success at Manchester United if the club and fans had bought into his wacky ideas a bit more - like players wearing virtual reality goggles during training.

No, seriously.

The Dutch coach was sacked in May, just a few days after winning the FA Cup at Wembley, after failing to secure United Champions League football this season.

And, according to the Bleacher Report, had van Gaal been kept on for the final year of his three-year contract, he wanted to introduce the VR goggles that apparently allow "game-play analysis", where players can review match situations through their own eyes.

The ultra-modern techniques are already in use at PSV Eindhoven this season, and give players the opportunity to experience 360-degree scenarios in real-time from previous matches.

We have absolutely no idea how Wayne Rooney or David de Gea would've reacted to the thought of strutting about Carrington like Robocop but, hey, maybe it would've been brilliant.

What do you make of the idea? Genius or ludicrous? Let us know in the comments section, below.
