Stupid boy!

Players going away on international duty is fraught with problems. That's usually because a player gets injured, is tired or doesn't return on time or at all. But for Enner Valencia he could end up in jail!

The striker is on loan at Everton from West Ham and came face to face with police outside Atahualpa stadium in Quito after training with the international team before their World Cup qualifiers this week.

The incident happened because Valencia reportedly owes $17k in child maintenance payments and was quizzed by police after he was done with training.

Paul Marin, who is the lawyer of his five year-old daughter's mother, wasn't happy with the police after they didn't detain the footballer: "It's lamentable that certain police officers didn't collaborate with the detention of the footballer Enner Valencia, to ensure compliance with a judicial order.

"If they say this man earns so much, why doesn't he pay [the maintenance] monthly to his daughter" said Marín. "

Valencia and his agents have not commented on the incident as of yet and it looks like the player has avoided jail for now but it's not good if he does owe several dollars to his former partner.

Everton will be hoping that he avoids the claws of the law!
